His point was, our first thoughts are a great indicator of where our heart is and what is really important to us.
He told me it comes down to this, either we focus on how we can nurture our soul or focus on others and how they are not meeting our needs. One will lift us to a higher place, the other will drag us down.
So every morning for several weeks, I paid close attention to my first thoughts of the day, and I was shocked when I realized that generally, my first idea was to grab my phone and see what everyone was saying on social media.
Now my morning thoughts are intentional and I spend a few minutes in gratitude to God for night’s rest and another day to live and love, then I spend a few more reading His word before my feet hit the floor.
These simple questions that my dad asked me so long ago, have made such a difference in my life.
I know when we start our mornings with intentional uplifting thoughts, the better off we will be. And the more of us that do this, the better off the world will be.
Grab a journal and keep it by your bed. Record your first thoughts for a few days or weeks and let me know what you learn about yourself!
Love and light to you my friend!
