Why Do Things ALWAYS Work Out For Me?

Using this affirmation created a huge shift in my life.

What I did next changed EVERYTHING!

One of the most powerful affirmations in my work is, “Why do things always work out for me?”

One of the biggest negative thought loops I used to have was, “Why do things never work out for me?” And things “never working out” was the life {story} I created for myself.

What I did next changed EVERYTHING!

I changed one word in that question.

This was a HUGE shift in my life and I started to see things working out for me in the most wonderful ways.

Here’s an example.

My husband works as a conductor for the railroad.  At the time, he was in a rotation where his train would go to three cities over a three day trip.  After a certain amount of rest, he can be called in at any hour on any day.  One of our children was coming to visit for a short time, and if Jerry got called in, he would miss seeing him since he would be working for most of the days our son would be there.

In my mind, I said, “Why do things always work out for us?”

And then I let it go.

Jerry got called in to work.

I told myself again, without any emotion, disappointment or fear, “Why do things always work out for us?”

I let it go, and he went to work.

If Jerry works in the yard all day preparing or working on a train and he never leaves the yard the first day, he can clock out and get paid for the whole trip. This had never happened before, and is quite rare.

Guess what?

His train never left the yard that day, and Jerry got to come home and enjoy the visit with our son!

One more story…..

One day I was running a little late for an appointment 40 minutes from home.

As I got in my truck and backed out of the garage, I threw out, “Why do things always work out for me?” and headed out.

EVERY stop light was green. I didn’t get behind slow cars. The traffic flowed well all the way and I arrived with a few minutes to spare!

This is just a couple stories of many for me! Things always work out for me! And on occasion, where things don’t go as I plan, I tell myself that there is a reason for it and God is working in my life. But that is a post for another day.

What is a story that you tell yourself that you’d like to change? Can you put it into a sentence? Fold a piece of paper in half and write the sentence down on the left side.

What word or words can you change to make your sentence or question completely positive? Write it down on the right side of the paper.

Can you see the difference between the story you tell yourself, and the NEW story you want to live?

Congratulations, you’ve written your first affirmation!

Now, hold your hand over your heart, take a few deep breaths and let these new words settle into your being.

Next, take some physical action by ripping your paper in half taking the old story you wrote on the left side, and crumple it up and throw it away or burn it.

Once you start telling yourself this new story, especially in question format, the universe will go about to answer the question for you! The magic happens when you say the words and then let go of the outcome.

P.S.  If you try this exercise, but you continue to tell your old story, I’d love to help you release your blocks and triggers.  If you haven’t yet, sign up for a free 30 minute session with me!
